There are 2,500 lakes in Pennsylvania.
But there's only 1 Greenwood Lake.
And we want you to join us.
Nestled in the foothills of the Pocono Mountains in Northeastern Pennsylvania, just 13 miles from Jim Thorpe, Greenwood Lake has quietly welcomed generations of families and friends from throughout the region and around the country. Originally constructed by Lehigh Coal & Navigation, Greenwood provided summer recreation for families of the company’s senior executives. The property was purchased in 1972 by the current lake association for recreation as well as to conserve and maintain the land. That means it’s pristine; nature at its best, beloved by the Greenwood community.
Ask members of the Greenwood Lake community what makes it so special, and they’ll tell you their own stories and share their memories about why Greenwood is a memorable place for them. The words friendly and down-to-earth come up a lot. You’ll hear about long summer days, lots of laughter under the pavilion, and a strong sense of community. You’ll hear members talk about their own carefree childhoods at “the lake,” as they take their grandkids in the water for their first dip.
Greenwood Lake is an idyllic setting, a place to fish, hunt, swim, kayak, and enjoy nature. You can relax on the beach, enjoy meals with the family under the pavilion, or stay as active as you want -- there are 600 acres of natural woodland and 15 acres of developed recreation area. What’s more, lake memberships are currently available.
Greenwood Lake is that place.
